History of Welding Manual Welding Vs. Robotic Welding

One day Tom was going to his job at welding with robots. When Tom got there he asked his boss how can we make these machines more efficient. I do not know how they are going to do that but someday we will perfect the perfect machines that will weld perfect on cars. Well get going and start thinking of some ideas that would help us improve the robotic arms. Then the next day tom arrived at work he has an idea that can work. He made up a program that can make the welds more precise. They tried the program on the machines and it worked perfectly and it did not have any flaws. So after that they decided to keep the program . Tom was paid more money the company made more money. How has robotic welding made welding more efficient. Welding can†¦show more content†¦Robotic welding is the best at welding on all kinds of metals that it can weld on. Saving 50% percent more on gas and wire can help the owner of the company save more money. Often the owner need to check on robotic welding arm. In other words robotic welding is the best way to go when it comes to welding on metal. The robot arm has to weld a perfect weld if it is setup right and done right. Making sure that the robotic arm does not have any damages on it. The works have to check everyday if the equipment is perfect. It depends on the quality of the part you are going to weld on. They have to make sure that the weld that the robot does welds in the same place every time. One way that you have to make sure that everything is setup right. Rechecking all the machines if they have any damage on the if they do then you can not weld because you have to fix the machine. Its important because if you do not check then there will be problems like there will be more money to fix the machines wasting time. Then you will not get the job done. Although that can be a problem you have to be able to save money while you are working. The owner of the company do not need a lot of employers to do a welding job because the robots can do it for them. They eliminate some of the other things workers do like grinding because a robot can leave a weld that is perfect. They can complete the job faster and efficient.Show MoreRelatedRevamping of Recruitment Center of Tata Motors9981 Words   |  40 Pagestheir valuable guidance, inspiration and encouragement to make this project report successful. Among the hiddenâ€Reader’s report Free Essays

Bolometer The book I read is Among the hidden Which is wrote by Margaret Peterson Haddam. This book was published by Simon Schuster Children’s Publishing in 1998. It is a science-fiction book Which has about 150 pages. We will write a custom essay sample on Among the hidden–Reader’s report or any similar topic only for you Order Now My first impression of this book is that it is a sad story because the cover page is made up by cool tone. The story happens in the future which starts with Lake’s birthday in Lake’s home. With a new housing development replacing the woods next to his family farm, he is no longer allowed to go outside. There is a law about each family can only have tow children. Luke has lived his entire life in hiding because he is a shadow child, a third child forbidden by the population police. Luke admires his brothers so much because they can go to school and play with friends out side. This setting makes me feeling mysterious and depressive. Until one day, he find out there is an other shadow child in his neighbor’s family. She is Jean, the creator of a chat room for shadow children chatting with each other. They become friends soon after they meet. Jean organizes a rally Which hundreds of shadow children are going to protest the government’s population law, but Luck does not participate in the rally that day because of fear. After the rally day, Luck can not contact with Jean for a week. He is so anxious that he breaks in Jean’s house. He meets Jean’s dad in the house who tells him a appealing news Jean and other shadow children were killed by population police. Then, Jean’s dad helps Luck escaping from population police’ chase. Finally, they achieve to make a fake I. D for Luck. On this story, the main conflict is person versus society. All the shadow children are illegal, but they never stop the struggle for freedom. The two main character for the story are Luck and Jean. Luck is a small-bone and soft looking boy. Firstly, I think he is an obedient boy. He never disobey his parents’ order about hiding. He does not ask much about why he have to hid even he is very unwilling to do that. Secondly, he is a person of perseverance. He observe his neighbors every day. So he can know each of his neighbors. And that’s why he can find out Jean when he saw the light in her home after all her relatives are going out. Jean is the most impressive person I have read in this story. She is slim and has a short hair. She is so courageous that she organizes the rally at the risk of her life. And she is really decent that she wants all the shadow children have the same right with the normal people. She is dead because of trying to protest the totalitarian government. In my opinion, the reason author write this book is to tell the children how blessedness they are now. Comparing with these shadow children who are not accepted by the society, we are really lucky. This book make me occurring to China. China is a country have that population law, but not as serious as the book describes. The family who have more children in China have to pay a fine. That tells us each thing has its limit. If the overspent is so strict at population law, it will be a tragedy for someone. If the government do this reasonable, it will be a good thing to everyone. The major strength for reader to read this book is that the poll is very suspenseful Which you will never know what are going to happen. The weakness is that it is a sad story. Jean is dead at the end, it does not make reader feeling happy. I will recommend this book to my friends because it can tell them to treasure their life. I think if a person feels lonely and reactive by society, he can resonate with the children in the book and he will like this book. How to cite Among the hidden–Reader’s report, Papers

The Political Nature of Accounting Standard Setting free essay sample

The Treasury readily took on the responsibility, the ASX’s relationship with the Liberal Party enabled it to wield great influence and thus push out competing exchanges. The large companies had influence through the ASX and other groups lobbied for their position in this arena. Admittedly, there are non-political influences that have a role in the factors for adopting IAS’s such as globalization. Yes, this has been put into the non-political box because although it can be viewed as political, globalization is also an evolution of international trade with the assistance of technological advancement. What is meant by this is that once upon a time there were small businesses doing local business with locals. As the internet came about and there were improvements in electronic technology, businesses began to trade on an international level. This also influenced political processes in that there was something to be gained from embracing this inevitable phenomenon. Overseeing and monitoring the implementation IAS is the FRC who supported the adoption of abbreviated international standards with the view of reducing ‘financial reporting costs for Australian multinational companies’ (Bowrey 2007).However, the impacts have reached far and wide. When the IAS’s were adopted it was done so hurriedly, which resulted in â€Å"a more challenging task than originally anticipated† (Chand Cummings 2008 pp. 175). There were complications, the platform had inconsistencies which made transition difficult. Convergence has been rocky due to the constant changes in the platform. (Chand Cummings 2008 pp. 175) This raises the question: what are the advantages and disadvantages of the process? Cost vs Benefits – Winners vs LosersThe Government benefited from the movement of power of setting accounting standards through the Treasury department, who in turn gained by securing an authoritative position, as would the accounting bodies through the auditing division. The â€Å"core-financial and â€Å"partial-financial† interest groups predominate the boards of the IASB and in turn the members of the AASB and FRC, which enables them to set standards that would fit their economic objectives. (Brown 2006 pp. 88). Other stakeholders who would be rewarded with benefits are the large funding companies who, due the monetary amounts they endow, have huge influences. This is mainly because it is hard to imagine that in the real world, those endowed with these funds couldn’t really say no to the demands of the endowers for fear of retraction of funds. So in the end money speaks. What about the losers? There are many out there who have been disadvantaged by the changes such as third world countries and â€Å"non-financial virtue based† groups. (Brown 2006 pp. 88). The fact that these groups are the minority in the IASB, AASB and FRC shows how little they can have an input as to the content of the standards. These groups lack political clout and financial strength in the international market, thereby rendering them almost mute in effecting change. Another problem is that Socio-economists have been unable to ‘influence the regulatory process of accounting from a socio-economics perspective’, this is due to problems with communication (Biondi Susuki 2007). In an article by J. E. Ketz it mentions that â€Å"the presence of political factors prevent standard setters from finding technical solutions to technical problems† which has a negative impact on setting standards for special interest groups. These are issues we hope that the IASB and AASB will consider. Goals, Objectives and Consequences Now we come to the Board members themselves, who are mostly composed of ‘core or partial financial’ interest groups with only 1 member of the FRC being a non-financial based interest group (Brown 2006, pp85). While the IASB does â€Å"claim to serve the public interest†, this raises questions as to whether they are influenced by private interests. (Gallhofer Haslam 2007 pp. 658).The fact that the influences of virtue groups are so minute may indicate that, because of â€Å"accounting issues that are unfamiliar to mainstream accounting standard setters† the board members may be handicapped because of their limited views or objectives, even though they are financial accounting experts (Brown 2006, pp90). Then it comes to the timeliness of all these changes. Australias involvements with international and other domestic standard-setters are changing very quickly (Stevenson 2010). Within a relatively short time period we went from harmonization to standardisation with impacts that may not have been easily determinable. The costs of keeping up with constant changes in the IAS’s may be difficult for third world countries. In Chand and Patel’s article on convergence it showed that for â€Å"emerging economies† it might be difficult to fund the adoption of IAS’s as well as the progressive changes in the standards. This, though, is not the only issue as these countries don’t generally have â€Å"well-established professional accounting bodies† and so cannot easily understand the International Accounting standards (Chand ; Patel 2008, pp89). IN CONCLUSION In summary, the process of setting accounting standards and the eventual adoption of the IAS’s has had its effects. The government benefited by empowering the Treasury, in partnership with the ASX, to influence the setting of accounting standards in Australia. Busines ses were involved in that their â€Å"external political activity† largely influenced â€Å"electoral and legislative processes† (Baysinger 1984, pp249). The many influences have benefited the financial majority over the non-financial minority in regards to the content of the standards themselves, and the endowment of funds have ensured that their goals were given priority. Meanwhile the special interest groups have been disadvantaged because their status allowed them no influence.

Information Security Privacy in Healthcare Discussing the HIPAA Standards Requirements

Introduction Today, more than ever before, it has become increasingly apparent that the daily functioning of a healthcare institution fundamentally depends on the integrity, availability and dependability of its information systems. Patient health information, research, operations, and finance all depend on highly accessible, reliable, and robust software applications, data, and information technology infrastructure (Glaser Aske, 2010).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Information Security Privacy in Healthcare: Discussing the HIPAA Standards Requirements specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Consequently, healthcare providers are required by law to strictly observe a complexity of standards as outlined in the privacy provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). This paper reviews some underlying issues related to organizational policies, procedures and documentation requirements go verning health entities for HIPAA compliance. Issues in Information Technology Reporting Data One of the underlying issues covered in the document is the need for covered entities to tighten internal and external compliance procedures by ensuring that their business associates subscribes to a set of standards and requirements aimed at ensuring the integrity and reliability of the electronic protected health information (EPHI). This objective is achieved by ensuring that the covered entity obtains signed privacy agreements with the business associates, particularly on the use and disclosure of EPHI (HIPAA, 2007). The second issue concerns the need for the covered entity and its associates to conduct regular audits on EPHI not only to ensure compliance with the requirements and standards outlined in the Act, but also to guarantee that EPHI is used for the intended purposes. Business associates, such as software developers, must therefore develop and implement record-level security ai med at restricting access to EPHI sorely to those who are allowed by the Act (Sarrico Hauenstein, 2011). The variables of EPHI that requires safeguarding as outlined in rules and regulations of HIPAA also comes out strongly in this document. Indeed, the Act requires all stakeholders – covered entities, sponsors, business associates, and subcontractors – to always ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of EPHI (HIPAA, 2007). For example, a sub-agent contracted by a business associate of a covered entity to create a component of the electronic health register (EHR) must not only ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of EPHI under its possession, but must agree to sign compliance agreements that appropriate the task of implementing reasonable and appropriate safeguards to the subcontractor (HIPAA, 2007; Cannoy Salam, 2010).Advertising Looking for essay on health medicine? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Fourth, the article has comprehensively discussed how breaches to the security of patient health information should be addressed either by the covered entity or by the business associates, sponsors, or subcontractors. Lastly, the document has outlined how policies and procedures required by the Security Rule should be incorporated with the organization’s mission and culture to enable effective implementation. Here, the covered entities are given a leeway to modify the rules and procedures of the Security Rule to fit their current business practices for policy development and implementation, as long as the modifications are documented and implemented in accordance with the requirements of the Act (HIPAA, 2007). Security Breaches The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) defines a breach as the â€Å"†¦acquisition, access, use, or disclosure of protected health information in a manner not permitted under [the HIPA A privacy rule] which compromises the security or privacy of the protected health information† (Brown, 2009, p. 27). As such, any use, disclosure of, or access to, electronic patient health information that is not expressly permitted by the HIPAA privacy rule constitutes a security breach. For example, improperly disclosing patient health information that contains the name of the patient and dates of his/her appointments to a third party who is not allowed by the HIPAA security rule to have access to such information constitutes a violation of the privacy rule but not a substantial risk; however, the improper use or disclosure of sensitive patient information, such as the type of services received by the patient, constitutes a breach since such disclosure could result in harm to the patient (Brown, 2009) Technologists working in the covered entity should report the breaches to the individuals who could be harmed as a direct consequence of the breach. Serious breaches, such as those involving more than 500 patients in a given state or jurisdiction, must be reported to the media and the Secretary to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). For breaches involving less than 500 patients, however, the technologists need to report to the administration of the covered entity, who then maintain a log of the reported breaches with the aim to notify the HHS not late than 60 days after the expiry of the calendar year (Brown, 2009).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Information Security Privacy in Healthcare: Discussing the HIPAA Standards Requirements specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Requirements The requirements noted in the document include: organizational requirements; requirements for group health plans, and; policies, procedures and documentation requirements. Under the organizational requirements, the covered entity is required to enter into binding contracts or other arrangemen ts with business associates who will have direct access to the covered entity’s EPHI with a view to ensure the effective implementation of administrative, physical, and technical safeguards that realistically and correctly protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of EPHI. This requirement also outlines ways through which the business associates should report breaches to the security and privacy of patient data, and the consequences for non-compliance (HIPAA, 2007). The standard on the requirements for group health plans obliges the â€Å"†¦group health plan to ensure that its plan documents require the plan sponsor to reasonably and appropriately safeguard EPHI that it creates, receives, maintains or transmits on behalf of the group health plan† (HIPAA, 2007, p. 5). This implies that the plan sponsor of the group health plan who has access to sensitive electronic patient health data is required by the Security Rule to plan documents using a languag e which is similar to that already required by the Privacy Rule. Consequently, the sponsor must not only ensure reasonable and appropriate safeguards to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of EPHI under its disposal, but must also ensure that any agent, including a subcontractor, to whom it avails this data is obliged to implement rational and appropriate security directives to safeguard the information (HIPAA, 2007). Lastly, the requirements deal with issues of how a covered entity may modify its policies and procedures to fit its mission and organizational culture, provided that the modifications are documented and implemented in accordance with the Security Rule (HIPAA, 2007).Advertising Looking for essay on health medicine? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More According to Withrow (2010), these requirements provide the covered entities with the flexibility they need to implement the policies and procedures of the Security Rule according to their standard business practices, but they must take caution not to circumvent the requirements as enshrined in the Security Rule. In documentation standard, covered entities are not only required to retain documentation for a specified number of years (6 years) from the date of its creation or up to the date when the document was last in effect, but they are also supposed to make the documentation available to the individuals responsible for implementing the procedures to which the documentation pertains (HIPAA, 2007). Reviewing and updating the documentation as needed is also a requirement. IT Workers To ensure adherence to the requirements discussed above, the covered entities must embrace extensive and regular training of all employees, but with particular emphasis to employees in their information technology departments (Sarrico Hauenstein, 2011). The rules, standards, and requirements contained in the HIPAA are complex, thus the need for IT workers to undertake comprehensive training aimed at enlightening them on scenarios that may compromise the security and privacy of EPHI to a level that may make the entities non-compliant. Indeed, the extensive training and education should be extended to the employees of the business associates. Non-Compliance of the Requirements Organizations are often found to be non-compliant to the standards and requirements discussed in this paper due to a number of reasons, with the major one being the lack of proper understanding of what may be considered as a breach to the security and privacy of EPHI (Withrow, 2010). For example, healthcare organizations may not know that some simple acts such as a nurse giving a hospital discharge sheet to the wrong patient may constitute a breach if the health information (e.g., treatment for drug abuse) of the rightful owner is included in the discharge sheet. Varied interpretations of the standards have also been cited as a major cause of non-compliance (Sarrico Hauenstein, 2011). Lastly, failure on the part of the covered entity to implement policies and strategies that lead to reasonable and appropriate protection of the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of EPHI occasions non-compliance. Conclusion The legal liability for non-compliance of HIPAA may be a turning point for any healthcare organization – from a profit-making entity to sudden demise (Sarrico Hauenstein, 2011). Equally, EPHI is sensitive in nature and all efforts should be made to protect and safeguard this information with a wider scope of safeguarding the character and reputation of individuals. It is therefore imperative for health institutions to follow the standards and requirements contained in HIPAA to the latter if they are to kill the two birds with one stone. Reference List Brown, B. Lab#2 concrete mix design and compression tests Lab Report

#2 concrete mix design and compression tests - Lab Report Example Concrete quality control is an essential practice to ensure consistency in both the fresh and hardened concrete. Some of the laboratory methods used for concrete quality control include; slump test, compressive strength test and workability tests. The primary objective for this experimental study was to identify the characteristics exhibited by concrete materials and to familiarize with the commonly used laboratory specimen manufacturing and testing methods. In design and quality control of concrete, the most specified concrete property is strength. This can be attributed to the fact that testing methods available are relatively easy and furthermore; other concrete properties such as resistance to weathering and fire, elastic modulus, and impermeability are directly linked to strength. This means that having the strength data, then the other properties can be deduced. A good concrete mix should take into account the following key attributes: workability, consistency, strength, water cement ratio, durability, density, slump expected, and heat and chemical resistance. The relative proportions of concrete components, either by volume or weight, will closely influence its properties in both fresh and hardened state. The cement-water paste forms the active component in the concrete material, which is dependent on the characteristics of materials used and their relative proportions. The aggregates used must be well graded to minimize air voids in the concrete matrix. Generally, concrete mix designs are currently being over-designed for the fear of production of results that will not meet the minimum strength criteria specified by the engineer concerned. There is therefore need for analysis of concrete compressive strength variance and understanding of the criteria for proper concrete mix designs suitable for various applications. Concrete is a

Andrew Jackson's Presidency Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Andrew Jackson's Presidency - Essay Example The native Indian Americans faced one of their toughest times during his presidency, considering that he had embarked on a mission to dispossess the Native Americans of their land from the East of the Mississippi river to relocate them to the west, and this is a decision that he acted on most swiftly and decisively (Benson, 22). Thus, by the end of his term in presidency, he had managed to displace the natives from their motherland, to present day Oklahoma, through a forceful eviction that eventually came to be known as the ‘Trail of tear’ (Heckscher, n.p.). Secondly, Andrew Jackson’s policies were responsible for an economic meltdown in the United States and restricted economic growth for the country, since he adopted economic policies that were fundamentally flawed such as the closure of the Second Bank of the United States, eventually leading the country to a future economic crisis (Buchanan, 165). Thirdly, Andrew Jackson’s political actions were unjust, unconstitutional and created strains between the federal government and the states they presided over, thus leading to a political discontent in the country, at a time when peace was the most important thing in the country, having moved out of previous wars and conflicts that had threatened to completely tear the country apart. Therefore, in a nutshell, Andrew Jackson’s presidency was a cancer on the United States, and prevented the federal government from growing as a whole, during his time in office. Analysis of Andrew Jackson's Presidency The most memorable and horrific aspect of Andrew Jackson’s presidency was his treatment of the Native Americans. President Andrew Jackson passed the Indian Removal Act (1830), which then gave the president powers to negotiate the removal treaties with Indian nations, by transferring them from the regions they previously inhabited as their homeland, through legalizing the transfers and providing for the funding of the transfer proc ess (Buchanan, 166). This move has largely been termed by the human right commentators as amounting to ethnic cleansing, through dispossessing the native Indians of their motherland in the East of Mississippi, and transferring them forcefully to the western side; the present day Oklahoma (Andrew Jackson, n.p.). While the passage of the Removal Act was meant to be a channel through which peaceful treaties would be entered into, between the Indian Nations and the federal government, Andrew Jackson resulted to the forceful eviction of the Natives, after it became clear that they were not willing to give up their ancestral lands (Cole, 72). The forceful eviction was extremely dehumanizing, especially since President Andrew Jackson Sent 7,000-armed troops specifically to remove the Cherokee tribe, which had proved to be a bit more resistant in signing a transfer treaty that would displace them from their motherland (Benson, 27). This move was extremely bad, considering that the only reas on President Jackson implemented the forceful transfer of the Natives, was to have the white settlers expand their farms, so that their cotton farming and slave economy would continue to flourish, at the expense of the comfort of the Natives, who were not seen to contribute much
